I have managed to trace the PILKINGTON family back to Castleford in Yorkshire in the early part of the 18th Century. By the 19th century they had moved to Selby and then William (who had married a Manchester girl) moved backwards and forwards between Manchester and Selby.
William's son Thomas married a Yorkshire girl in Manchester and their son John married Ellen STEWART who was the granddaughter of German emigrants.
Tracing these families back from the 20th Century we have links with the surnames BARBER, BOSS, HALL, JUBB, MORRIS, PILKINGTON, STEWART, VOLP and WIESSLER amongst others.
